Immortal Bach

Saturday 2nd November at 7.30pm

St Mary's Cathedral, Palmerston Place

The Edinburgh Singers present the first concert of our 2019-20 season: Immortal Bach

The focus of our concert will be Bach - JS Bach, for chorus and for cello; Johann Christoph Bach; and Bach as reimagined by Knut Nystedt, in the piece which gives us our concert title - "Immortal Bach".  We will also be presenting Sir John Tavener's emotionally charged "Svyati", and will bring our concert to a stunning close with Ēriks Ešenvalds' "In Paradisum".

The choir is thrilled that renowned cellist Su-a Lee will be joining us to start our new season of concerts.  After graduating from the Julliard School, Seoul-born Su-a moved to Scotland to take up the role of Assistant Principal Cello with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, a position she continues to hold. She is also very much in demand as a soloist and chamber music performer of extraordinary variety.

The concert will be performed in the atmospheric St Mary's Cathedral, providing a rich acoustic for music of such depth.

Tickets (£12/£10; under 12s free) available from The Queen's Hall box office, 0131 668 2019 or on the door.
